The Examined Life of a 34 year old and how Karma can free you from the constraints of Age and Ageism
Welcome to another episode of our Thriving 30s Series featuring special guest Raghav Bhandari. Raghav graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Rhetoric with a focus on narrative and image. He has also made his mark by serving in different internships and volunteer jobs with a focus on social impact, such as working to help farmers around the world work in better conditions and earn better wages.
He is a true warrior against climate change and cares deeply about protecting our world through his work in the non-profit sector, veganism, sustainable products and waste reduction.
Raghav is a very deep thinker and has such a profound and beautiful way to see the world. So I’m prepared for this conversation about age to turn over everything I currently think about age, and completely obliterate it!
We are bringing him on today to not only talk about, but really philosophize about - age and aging as it relates to time, how age is viewed in different cultures and across different generations, why humility is an important quality to have in our world today, and how to use rhetoric to spread the messages you are passionate about.
IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:
-How we can use Karma to let go of Age
-A comparison of the experiences of transitioning through the decades of our life between turning 19 to 20, and 29 to 30
-How we are resting too much on "the tiny shoulders of ageism"
-How a bi-cultural upbringing allowed Raghav to free himself from societal norms regarding age
-The origins of ageism, the constraints of language and how the deeper truth about ourselves shines through and above our socially constructed concepts of age.
